Two weeks ago I tried to make my art teacher think a fellow teacher left the paper towel painting for him to put on display. I wrote a letter in which I never lied, but gave him all the opportunity to misinterpret it. By for instance referring to ‘my fellow colleagues’ which are my fellow students. (I'll try to get the letter up here I wrote him) In the letter I requested that he’d place it in the hall that Saturday.

Once I turned in the ‘painting’ with the letter without him seeing me, I crossed my fingers and hoped. If he was gullible enough to fall for it, I would have succeeded in displaying a piece of paper towel in my school.

The monday I arrived at school, I searched through all the halls. The people in my new class found it a bit odd that I was pacing through all the halls, looking through all the windows, I ignored them and kept looking. I then realized how many paintings my school has. But even so, it wasn’t there. I waited an entire week and again a glimpse of hope came, and again, it failed. Everything had failed. The plan, even though I did my best to make it work, had failed.

So last Friday I stepped up to him and told him that I had tried to trick him. That I was the one who placed that painting on his desk and that I was the one who wrote the letter. I explained to him what the ‘painting’ was, even though he already knew it was a paper towel. ‘oh’, he said. ‘I thought it was a colleague who left it there, but now that I know who this came from’ could it be?

‘I’ll put it on display’

YES!

I had to make a little name tag for it which I gave to him today, Monday. Now victory is almost mine. Tomorrow it will be decided. If it’s there I will photograph it as proof, and like I said, I will write a little something about how art and effort aren't related as much as many think. The clock ticks today away.
